The postal service seems to be too slow for Netflix. This week Netflix will begin offering a new service to its customers; the ability to stream movies from their website. While other sites such as vongo.com already offer this form of legal "downloadable movie renting," Netflix seems to be trying to stay afloat with the competition.

The monthly allotment of viewing time will be determined by the customer's subscription plan, and only about 1,000 movies will be available at the time of the launch. Also, to monitor how this new service will tax Netflix's servers, the service will be gradually released to the customers, with only a small number of the Netflix users being offered the service initally.

Time will tell if this new addition will keep Netflix from becoming pushed to the sidelines by consumers' ever growing demand for instant gratification.
