FIGHT THE POWER!

I share this in hopes of lifting the spirit, invigorating the soul, and bringing pride back to the common man's stature. You see I was attacked with a great act of injustice when the local law ticketed me $100 for not displaying my liscence/tabs which were actually displayed, quite prominently I might add. Yes, it was in my windshield which is approximately 2 feet higher than my bumper and much closer to the average citizens eye height.

It all began 2.5 years ago when my liscence plate was ripped from my bumper as I was helping a stranded stranger by pushing his jeep through the cold streets of MPLS on a February eve. I pushed him a half block by sheer man-force but needed to get him up an incline into a lot. This is where my car came into play. After, I noticed the plate was laying bent on the frozen ground so I picked it up and tossed it in the backseat. I promptly recieved a $125 citation for not displaying my front liscence. I gladly paid it as I was in the wrong. The officer told me to fix it or put it in the front window. After performing the latter I went on my merry way, bruised by the law for helping a stranger. My car remained in that state for 2.5 years.

Until last week when I was dealt the final blow. Another citation, another wound, another $100... I think not. My spirit rose up from within and I said No! I will not pay them again for helping my fellow man. I went in there this morning, explained the situation, complimented the hearing officer on his sweet timepiece, and after much silence...The hearing officer said in a quiet, defeated voice, "I'm going to cancel the ticket."

"Victory!" I exclaimed in my head! "Vicory" I thought again. I did a vicory lap around the government center on my bike and went to work with my head held high.

At a time when men's heart's grow faint, a time of darkness and despair and apparent lack of governing authority, a man takes a stand for what he believes. He won! He won! Hallelujah!
